Application Engineer

Our client is looking to hire an Application Engineer to join their team on site in Merrillville, IN.
This is a 1 year long contract with the potential to extend or convert!
Qualifications:
Prefer Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent and two or more years of experience with Oracle.
Demonstrates most characteristics of L1, L2 and L3.
Requires minimum direction.
Demonstrates ability to perform some strategic planning.
Demonstrated ability to manage medium sized projects.
Considered by peers and leadership to be SME in the working group.
Proactive in identifying business/enterprise technical needs.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to train/coach others Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience Able to interpret compliance standards as applicable to job role.
Occasional travel, including air travel.
The ability to perform duties effectively under emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
CIP Applications Engineer is responsible for the reliability, physical design, performance, recoverability and security of corporate databases.
This roles is ultimately accountable for the availability, integrity, security, and survivability of corporate databases.
Creates, maintains, and tunes all databases (including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures) required for development, testing, education and production usage Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.
Install new and maintain existing versions of the DBMS engines on distributed servers.
Evaluates releases of the database and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate.
Plans and implements backup and recovery of the database Implements and enforces security for all of the databases Monitors databases for problems and performs preventative maintenance Performs tuning of application code as it relates to database performance Provides technical support and consulting to the application development teams Troubleshoots problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools Participates in disaster recovery events Evaluate vendor responses to RFP, RFQ, RFI and support vendor selection process.
