Hours: _ Must be available to work Monday - Sunday rotating hours including holidays. _
DEFINITION: Under close supervision, cleans and services the building. This includes cleaning, mopping, stripping and waxing floors. Also assists in moving furniture and equipment. Responsible for cleanliness of assigned area, care of assigned tools and materials, economical use of all soaps, chemicals, waxes and other housekeeping supplies.
I. ESSENTIAL
Responsibilities:
Promotes a customer service mindset. Treats others courteously and with respect.
Responds to all requests and calls with a can do attitude and follows up on requests with a sense of urgency.
Wash interior and exterior windows.
Dust and wet mop halls and stairways.
Routinely strips, waxes and buffs floors.
Vacuums and shampoos carpet.
Gathers and disposes of refuse and glass.
Gathers and disposes of medical waste per proper procedure.
Washes walls, cleans light fixtures, top of windows and door frames. Removes vent covers using screw driver, cleans inside of vent, and replaces cover.
Replaces light bulbs if applicable.
Changes mattresses, moves beds from one area to another and moves furniture of all kinds.
Sterilizes step-on cans.
Responsible for working supplies and equipment used and replenishing of same.
Replace bedside and window curtains.
Cleans up accidents which occur such as broken bottles, dishes, spilled food, water, etc. Sweeps broken glass with broom and dust pan placing breakage in appropriate waste container. Mops area with soap and water.
Washes inside of elevators, wipes dry with dry cloth.
Keeps Cleaner closet clean.
Isolation room cleaning per proper procedure.
Promotes a safe working environment by upholding and following all established health and safety policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned inclusive of duties of a Cleaner.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of common cleaning devices/equipment, such as brooms, mops, automatic floor scrubbers, shampoo equipment, etc.
Demonstrated ability to follow simple oral directives required.
Demonstrated ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis required.
Demonstrates strong communication skills and excellent customer service mentality.
Previous cleaning experience preferred.
Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment interacting with a variety of departments.
III. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to cleaning solvents and dirty patient rooms.
Exposed to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases normally associated in a health care environment.
Bending, stooping, standing, pushing and pulling, and reaching on a repetitive basis throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation.
Use of telephones and computers may be required.

Reports to the Supervisor, Environmental Services.
Does not supervise any other employees.
